MY MISSION

The resilience of the human body fascinates me. The more we research it, the more we are finding that it has an amazing ability to adapt to the stressors imposed on it. The human body should not be compared to a mechanical piece of equipment that breaks down as it ages, but rather an adaptable system that responds when specific stressors are applied in an environment where the load is controlled.

As complex as this may seem, there is a simple first step: START YOUR REHABILITATION WITH THE END IN MIND. What is the end goal? Do you want to walk your dog pain free? Do you want to run the Comrades? Do you want to increase your speed and agility? Do you want to try a new sport?

These questions are very important because not everyone wants to Deadlift 100 kgs, but some do. I love the challenge in helping my clients reach those goals, and in the process encouraging people who would not normally exercise to give it a go.

I have been challenged by great therapists, both in South Africa and abroad to think critically, and question the status quo. My mission is to rehabilitate, enhance, and assist my clients in achieving their physical goals and well-being.

“Christie was amazing in my rehab journey from an ITB injury that I had suffered training for Comrades. She advised on my every move to getting back to full strength after my injury and she took me through a slow and steady program to recover from the injury. Not only did she help me recover, but she also helped with continued strength programs to prevent future injuries and make me into a stronger and better runner. She has taken a very personal approach and care in my rehab journey, even though she had numerous other patients. Anyone who consults with Christie, I am sure, will have the same brilliant treatment as I did.”

I grew up in the small town of New Hanover in Kwa-Zulu Natal and participated in a number of sports throughout my schooling career. I moved up to the University of Pretoria to study and completed my degree in Human Movement Science.

After graduating, I moved to Durban to do my honours in Biokinetics at UKZN followed by an internship at Sharks Rugby Medical in 2014. I spent over four years practicing at Balance Sport and Wellness in Pietermaritzburg as part of a multi-disciplinary team of biokineticists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors, before moving up to Johannesburg mid 2019 to start my own practice.
