“Christie was amazing in my rehab journey from an ITB injury that I had suffered training for Comrades. She advised on my every move to getting back to full strength after my injury and she took me through a slow and steady program to recover from the injury. Not only did she help me recover, but she also helped with continued strength programs to prevent future injuries and make me into a stronger and better runner. She has taken a very personal approach and care in my rehab journey, even though she had numerous other patients. Anyone who consults with Christie, I am sure, will have the same brilliant treatment as I did."

“I first visited Christie Wolhuter after injuring my Achilles tendon running. I also had had a rather large spur on my heel for several years which got progressively more painful. I was in a position which made it painful and difficult to walk. Christie has largely relieved the problem with the tendon and the spur has diminished significantly. She has always been professional and caring, listening carefully to the explanation of the problem. In addition she has been helpful in dealing with my osteoporosis, offering a variety of progressively more difficult exercises.

I will miss her expertise and would recommend her as a Biokineticist.”

“We met Christie in December last year when our 13 year old daughter was unexpectedly diagnosed with Juvenile Scoliosis. We were scared and unsure of what scoliosis was and Christie was amazing in explaining everything to us every step of the way and she was even more amazing with our daughter. She researched and designed very specific programs for Isabella so much so that within 2 weeks, combined with physio the X-rays showed an improvement of Isabella's lumbar curve and a marginal improvement of her thoracic curve. Isabella is amazingly strong after 5 months of working with Christie, she has been very active playing hockey, swimming and doing ballet. She has improved her core strength and is in absolutely no pain. We are extremely sad that Christie is relocating but we know that she will be amazing with her new practice in Johannesburg.”

“2016 was an incredibly difficult time for me on the rugby field. I was playing some quality rugby but was battling with my knee, which was becoming increasingly painful with every game. The season finished, and I had surgery on my meniscus. I needed to find a Bio as I had now been announced as captain of UKZN Impi. Upon asking around for recommendations, the common name suggested was Christie Wolhuter. Her professional rehabilitation helped me incredibly in getting back in time. The rugby specific exercises helped me strengthen the weakened muscles post-surgery, but also helped me strengthen the neglected ones as well. Being a rugby player, I have been exposed to a variety of Bio’s but Christie, without a doubt, was the best I have encountered, such that I still use her exercises now, 2 years later. Her caring persona made it easy to feel comfortable with her, but at the same time she could push you to your limits. I highly recommend Christie.”

“At the age of 58 and having undergone a successful Achilles reconstruction I had hoped to get to my passion of running. After re-locating to Pietermaritzburg this seemed the ideal time and place to start getting competitive in road and track running - this was not to be as I rapidly experienced excruciating knee pain in both knees as soon as I started running. A few locals recommended Christie, and I immediately found a person that was willing to listen quietly and attentively as I told her my story. She listened and asked some very clearly thought out questions with regards to what my running goals were. Through her caring and motivating approach together with the right physio input when needed, the muscles around my knees strengthened and stabilised. A year down the line we hit a stumbling point - no further improvement and still no large increases in running distance. An MRI scan confirmed meniscal tears in both knees. That was a tough time as to me it meant the end of my passion. Christie in her own confident, caring and polite manner gave me the confidence to ease back on the running goals and to work on cycling as a means of exercising. This, combined with her knowledge and input with specific strengthening exercises slowly allowed my knees to take on more and more load, such that I graduated to completing Argus and a few other 100km+ on and off-road cycling races. That was not all - with her belief, knowledge and ability to get me to do what I needed to I am now running up to 10km at a time once or twice a week. This being after 2 prominent surgeons had said that exercise would not be possible without extensive knee surgery. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Christie as the best biokineticist that I have used. Pietermaritzburg’s loss is Johannesburg's gain.”
